BE THE EXAMPLE,
NOT THE STATISTIC®
A statistic is only a starting point. It should never be your stopping point.
Who We Are
Combat Veterans.
Husband & Wife Team.
We are Matthew and Brittney Linville. We met while serving in the Army in Iraq in 2003. Like many who serve, our return to civilian life wasn't a straight line.
In 2005, while deployed, Matthew was injured in combat. The recovery was tough—both physically and mentally. During that time, staring down the reality of permanent injuries, the fear wasn't just about pain. It was about the future.
Why "Team Linville"?
Pursuing a goal—whether it's physical recovery, a new career, or just staying consistent with your workouts—is often a lonely battle. But we found that having a "team" behind you keeps you accountable.
We create gear you can touch and wear. A physical reminder to keep pushing when motivation fades.
Your injuries—visible or invisible—don't define you. You choose your own path.
We push our own limits (skiing, biking, lifting) to show others what is still possible.
The Origin of the Mission
For Matthew, he was recovering after being wounded in combat and realized that for some veterans, that was where their life would change for the worse and they'd become one of those statistics.
He told Brittney he wanted to "Be the Example, Not the Statistic" and that's where the mission was born.
In that moment, we decided to not be the statistic. We wanted to define what a veteran could be after that happened to them, and not be one of the statistics.
